INSTRUMENT SPOTLIGHT: KOSHI CHIMES

More often than not, after a Sound bath somebody will ask “what was that tinkling sound?”

The answer? Koshi Chimes.

Made in France, these chimes are intentionally crafted to represent each of the four elements; fire, earth, water and wind. They are made from bamboo, with eight metal rods and a striker on a string, to hit the rods. The rods are tuned to different notes depending on which element the chime is. (Terra - G C E F G C E G, Aqua  - A D F G A D F A / Pentatonic, Aria - A C E A B C E B and Ignis - G B D G B D G A / Pentatonic).

All of the different element chimes work in beautiful harmony together. The many combinations of different chimes all create uniquely special soundscapes.

I’ve been told by clients and Sound Bath attendees that the chimes remind people of the forest, of fairies, fairy dust, nymphs, magic, youth, purity, and the list goes on.

They seem to bring nothing but warmth, joy and lightness to the receivers.

I would equate the vibration of the chimes to the feeling of the purr of a cat.

I mostly use them to finish my sessions, as they set people up to walk out on a high, bubbled up and reminded of all things beautiful, lovely and light.

However, they can also be extremely powerful tools for deep healing when used with intention and focus. As well as using them around the head and ears, I use them across the body. Often on the hands, sometimes on chakras, sometimes on joints like the knees, elbows, hips etc when I feel that their certain brand of vibration and energy is needed. When someone needs something warm, steady and gentle.

Using these guys is truly one of the best parts of what I do. Seeing the happiness they create in others, their sound is the most satisfying gift to give.
